One of the first cute animations I was inspired to when I was deciding the target of my thesis, since at first I was going to target the children and math problems.

Thesis: Statement of Intent

Encouraging and guiding adults in financing and internet banking through animation

I intend to investigate how adults and elderly react to different learning methods and evaluate the efficiency of these methods. I want to create an innovative learning process which is fun to watch and interact with, but at the same time I will be explaining billing, financing or banking issues which might not be straight forward for middle aged people due to their lack of experience on computer software or the internet. My aim is to help adults struggling to pay their monthly/weekly bills in their busy working life-style by producing a constructive and innovative animation.

I was mainly influenced from the adults in my life, particularly my parents. They have a busy life-style like any other working parents and have little time to waste in waiting at the bank to pay their bills or do any other banking transactions. Most adults have some basic knowledge on computer software however they still lack a lot into communication over the internet. I intend to start my research on the web, books and eventually study adults and their behavior around various methods of learning.

I plan to complete all my research and surveys by the end of December, and if possible before, so to be able to start the write up and argumentation. I intend to complete my first draft by the beginning of March, so that if I would need to revise or rewrite any sections, I would have enough time.  While working on my thesis, I will keep a constant contact with my supervisors to discuss whether I am on the right track.

BIBLIOGRAPHY

I still have to decide what to produce as a final project for my thesis although I already have a couple of ideas in mind. Apart from the project I intend to make a good argumentation, based on research, surveys, interviews and experiments, with a view to improving design for adults in animation. I will be gaining more knowledge by reading books and downloaded information which I have available on this subject. I shall also seek guidance from my supervisors and also other experienced persons with regard to the quality of the research, argumentation and structure.
